Tyler Technologies has announced that the state of Maryland will be deploying the Socrata Connected Government Cloud platform.
The Texas-based software company said Thursday that, with SCGC, Maryland seeks to make its data services simultaneously more efficient and secure, as well as facilitate collaboration between state agencies and departments.
Tyler explained that SCGC will function as "a self-service centralized data repository for state employees" while Patrick McLoughlin, the director of business intelligence at Maryland's Department of Information Technology, noted that SCGC will allow state agencies to internally store data and easily make it public when needed.
Kevin Merritt, president of the Data and Insights Division at Tyler Technologies, emphasized the benefits of data to governments and said that SCGC "will underpin Maryland’s commitment to digital governance."
