Lockheed Martin has released a peer-reviewed report on the company’s efforts over the past year to ensure sustainability in corporate operations related to environmental, governance and social issues.

The 2018 corporate sustainability report, titled “The Science of Citizenship,” implemented a Global Reporting Initiative basis as well as metrics handled by international quality assurance and risk management firm DNV GLC, Lockheed said Thursday.

According to the report, Lockheed implemented carbon reduction and energy efficiency procedures in its products;  earned $3B for offerings that use infrastructure and energy resiliency methods; saved $23.9M in water and energy costs; and allocated $100M for workplace development efforts last year.

Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO of Lockheed and 2019 Wash 100 winner, noted that the company is “proud to provide advanced technologies that play a role in ensuring a sustainable future for all."

Lockheed was previously selected to Forbes' and Indeed.com's best workplaces lists as well as the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Military Times Best for Vets indexes.
