MSCI will shift KBR to the information technology consulting code under the Global Industry Classification Standard by April 30.
KBR said Thursday its new 45102010 code, designated for IT consulting and other services, aligns with the firm's partners in the government services market and reflects a transformation where at least 60 percent of its consolidated results come from the government sector.
A company is listed under the GICS sub-industry that best aligns with at least 60 percent of the firm's revenue-generating activities. There are 158 sub-industries within GICS.
MSCI and S&P Dow Jones Indices developed GICS to serve as an investment tool through classification of industry sectors.
