Intel’s Darren Pulsipher: Multicloud Strategy Could Offer Flexibility, Security Benefits to Agencies - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Darren Pulsipher, enterprise solution architect at Intel’s data center group, has said federal agencies could benefit from adopting a multicloud strategy and one advantage is the flexibility that multicloud environments offer.

“Some organizations may wish to move between clouds to ensure better uptime and reduced risk of service disruptions; if one provider experiences an outage, they have a backup which they can rely on, mitigating the chances of lost productivity,” Pulsipher wrote in an opinion piece published Monday on Federal Times.

He noted that multicloud platforms could help agencies build up their cybersecurity posture and mentioned several tools organizations can use to automate security and compliance policies. Those tools include SaltStack, Chef, Ansible and Puppet.

Pulsipher called on agencies to automate their development processes through the use of DevOps and containers, which he said are “meant to drive automation, agility, and better security.”

“Containers are important because they allow developers to break down applications into their core components. This makes those applications highly portable and easily transferable across clouds,” he noted.
