The Department of Defense's innovation group is soliciting 3D printing technology briefs in an effort to facilitate autonomous construction of military facilities and equipment, FedScoop reported Friday.

The Defense Innovation Unit seeks a construction-scale additive manufacturing platform to autonomously build military infrastructure such as barracks and bridges.

DIU wants a machine that can be deployed by up to 4 operators and will take them only one hour to set up and take down each unit.

Interested parties may submit proposals through May 7.
