Hill-Rom received conditional authority to operate from Department of Defense for three medical technology platforms to integrate with DoD’s healthcare networks in the U.S. and abroad.
The Pentagon cleared the firm's Welch Allyn Connex spot and vital signs monitoring systems, ELI 380 resting electrocardiograph platform and Connex vital signs connectivity tool, Hill-Rom said Tuesday.
"Advancing connected care means providing the data security healthcare organizations require, along with workflow efficiencies that improve patient care and outcomes," said John Groetelaars, president and CEO of Hill-Rom.
The company implemented limited device access, data transfer encryption and password protection measures to meet the department's cybersecurity requirements under the Risk Management Framework as part of the certification process.
Connex includes wireless connectivity and touchscreen displays and helps clinicians perform vital signs measurement, early warning scoring, spot checking and blood pressure averaging.
ELI 380 has a touch screen feature and is designed to accelerate the ECG procedure.
