The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Biological Technologies Office is seeking research-and-development concepts to help address Department of Defense requirements and other national security requirements.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday stated that BTO’s R&D scope covers a range of science and technology subject matters such as medicine, bioengineering, human-machine collaborative technologies and systems that can withstand ecological impact.

The broad agency announcement cited potential R&D activities such as advancing neurological treatment, engineering human biological systems, creating chemical and biological sample analysis platforms and establishing technologies that support human presence in extreme environments.

Other concepts that interested parties may tackle include agricultural produce preservation technologies and countermeasure capabilities to help maintain the global food and water supply.

DARPA plans to issue multiple awards for the program and will accept responses through April 23, 2020.
