United Technologies Corp.'sÂ Collins AerospaceÂ business has been selected to manufactureÂ components for theÂ life support platform of theÂ Crew Space Transportation-100 Starliner spacecraftÂ BoeingÂ is building through NASA'sÂ Commercial Crew Program.
Collins Aerospace said MondayÂ it will support development of theÂ Environmental Control and Life Support Subsystem, whichÂ will initially fly on CST-100Â as part of space taxi's uncrewedÂ flight test.
ECLSS is intended to provide an Earth-like environment for Starliner passengers andÂ will feature thermal control,Â air revitalization and pressure control systems.
Boeing designed StarlinerÂ to ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station. NASA expects the spacecraft to conduct itsÂ first crewed flight later this year.
