Shaun Bierweiler, vice president and general manager of the public sector business at Cloudera, has said state and local government agencies should have strategies in place to leverage big data in order to facilitate the delivery of citizen services.
Bierweiler wrote in a LinkedIn article published March 19 there are three factors agencies should consider when implementing a data strategy and one of those components is becoming "adept at safely capturing information wherever and whenever it is created.
“It’s imperative that agencies ascertain that no valuable, actionable data is left on the table,†he noted.
The strategy’s second component calls for government agencies to store data and glean insights from them through the use of data analytics powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence.
He said agencies should prioritize governance and security practices to ensure data privacy and protection.
Bierweiler also urged agencies to track constituent experience through a centralized platform for analytics and data management designed to help them analyze and develop constituent profiles.
