The U.S. Army has trained a company of militay personnel on how to operate an extended-range variant of the MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft system from General Atomics.

General Atomics said Monday soldiers from the 160th Foxtrot unit completed a training program for the MQ-1C ER platform at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, General Atomics said Monday.

The training included UAS maintenance process, manuals and ground support equipment.

David Alexander, president of General Atomics' aeronautical systems business, said the company updated the MQ-1C system to increase the performance of the vehicle.

The Army plans to also train its Echo Company to use the new variant.
