Salvatore Bruno, president and CEO of United Launch Alliance, said Tuesday in an interview with Government Matters that the company aims to implement analytics and automation for its rocket designs to handle complex missions.
Bruno noted that the company has received nine reference missions upon the development of its Vulcan Centaur rocket that is yet to be scheduled for launch.
He added that the reference missions are more complicated and require heavier spacecraft, as well as the capacity to handle higher energy orbits.
Speaking about competition in the space industry, Bruno said the introduction of new companies and the broadening of the commercial launch environment is “good for the country and enables competition.â€
