Autonomous technology developer ThayerMahan has partnered with WingmanAI to develop artificial intelligence platforms for potential use in maritime and defense missions.

The partnership seeks to address an objective outlined in the Department of Defense’s latest strategic doctrine, titled "Harnessing AI to Improve our Security and Prosperity," which describes how DoD intends to apply AI into battlefield missions, ThayerMahan said Thursday.

John O'Malia, founder of WingmanAI, said the company’s “human-operator-enhancing AI agent technology” will complement ThayerMahan’s experience in the maritime, security and defense areas.

He added the two companies aim to build AI-based tools to support port and maritime security, man-machine teaming, threat detection, scenario modeling and military decisionmaking processes.

WingmanAI offers AI technologies for gaming and simulation applications.
