A SpaceX crew capsule has returned to Earth after a five-day stay at the International Space Station as part of NASA's Demo-1 uncrewed flight test, Florida Today reported Friday.

The report said Crew Dragon splashed down Friday at 8:45 a.m. Eastern time into the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 200 nautical miles off Cape Canaveral. The spacecraft lifted off six days ago aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket at Kennedy Space Center, which marked the first launch of a space system built for human occupation through the Commercial Crew Program.

Dragon sent to the orbiting laboratory more than 400 pounds of cargo and a test dummy equipped with sensors built to collect data on the potential effects of space travel on astronauts that would ride in the module.

Boeing is preparing its CST-100 Starliner capsule for a similar test flight, possibly next month, the report noted.
