Science Applications International Corp. has established a new office in Austin, Texas, as part of efforts to accelerate the delivery of emerging technology platforms designed to help customers address complex challenges.

The office is located within the Capital Factory technology hub and close to an Army Futures Command facility, the company said Saturday.

“Our customers’ appetite for rapid innovation is growing and the need to deliver innovative solutions faster is critical,” said Jim Scanlon, executive vice president and general manager of SAIC's defense systems group.

The company is a founding member of Capital Factory’s Defense Innovation Council and will participate in the South by Southwest conference to help connect the defense community with startup businesses. Some of the firm's executives will also talk during two panel discussions at the SXSW event.

SAIC noted it has been supporting the U.S. Air Force Air Education and Training Command's Pilot Training Next program at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Austin since last year.

The government contractor previously opened an Innovation Factory in Reston, Va., and is among the sponsors of a space technology accelerator program that Starburst and Techstars unveiled in February.
