Quality Magazine has named Northrop Grumman’s aircraft manufacturing facility in Palmdale, Calif., as its quality plant of the year.
Northrop said Friday its Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence was recognized for using world-class technology, procedures, equipment and services to improve manufacturing operations.
Quality Magazine based its selection on how facilities use their resources to increase capacity, improve productivity, adhere to quality standards and reduce costs related to scrap, rework, warranty or manufacturing.
Deb Andree, vice president of mission assurance at Northrop, said the company’s workforce is involved in a wide range of manufacturing processes such as requirements documentation, logistics, sustainment and post-production updates.
Quality Magazine selects a manufacturing plant in the U.S. each year for the award.
