NextGen Federal Systems has received a two-year contract with Air Force Research Laboratory to help defense and intelligence communities analyze and transmit large amounts of weather data.
The company said Thursday it will work to develop a weather analysis-as-a-service that would streamline analytical and dissemination processes for high-resolution weather data around the globe. AFRL awarded the contract under the Small Business Innovation Research program.
WA3S would help USAF process multidomain weather data for sharing with other service branches and allies to support missions and decision making.
The technology would generate machine-to-machine, algorithm-based analyses to evaluate mission impact threshold, produce physics-based models for electromagnetic analysis and support intelligence operations via cloud/dust forecast models.
“WA3S shifts the focus from data dissemination services to data exploitation services that support intelligent mission analysis, providing clients with actionable answers to mission weather queries and mitigation options for potential weather impacts,†said Jeremy Loomis, principal investigator at NextGen.
