New Kratos Tech Seeks to Expand Military Satcom Connectivity; Frank Backes Quoted - top government contractors - best government contracting event

A Kratos Defense and Security Solutions subsidiary created and demonstrated a communications system prototype with the goal to help military users communicate via multiple satellites without undergoing network reconfiguration, C4ISRNET reported Friday.

Kratos RT Logic developed the Enterprise Management and Control platform as part of a program managed by the U.S. Air Force's Space and Missile Systems Center.

M&C is designed to automate access to a range of satellite communications networks such as the military's Wideband Global Satcom system through a service provider. The platform can also support modem and software operations via a single terminal.

Frank Backes, senior vice president of federal satellite solutions at Kratos, said the company worked with the SMC and the Defense Information Systems Agency to demonstrate the satcom system using legacy terminals.

Backes added an open architecture interface will allow the government to adjust and implement the system faster.

The company aims to receive a contract to conduct additional tests on the potential roaming connectivity technology.
