NAVSEA Announces Industry Day for New Navy Frigate Design, Construction Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Naval Sea Systems Command will host an industry day on March 19 in Washington, D.C., to discuss the draft solicitation for the design and construction of new guided missile frigates under the U.S. Navy’s FFG(X) program.

NAVSEA announced the FFG(X) DD&C industry event in a notice posted Saturday on FedBizOpps.

The command said the event at Suite 200, 1100 New Jersey Avenue SE, will provide defense contractors with an overview of the solicitation structure, key solicitation requirements and proposal evaluation factors.

NAVSEA aims to issue the final solicitation, which will seek 10 FFG(X) ships along with post-delivery availability support, engineering and class services, training equipment and provisioned item orders, in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2019.

“FFG(X) will provide combatant and fleet commanders a uniquely suitable asset to achieve select sea control objectives and to perform maritime security operations while facilitating access in all domains in support of strike group and aggregated fleet operations,” the command said in the FBO notice.

The new ships will mainly replace large surface combatants in routine duties. The Navy aims to acquire a total of 20 FFG(X) ships.

NAVSEA said proposals for the ship’s design should use existing parent ship design that has been demonstrated at sea. The program also requires construction of the ships to take place in a U.S. shipyard.

Interested parties can submit responses to the NAVSEA notice through April 1.
