General Dynamics‘ ordnance and tactical systems business will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday to expand its manufacturing plant in Lincoln, Neb., and expects to complete the project before the end of this year, The Lincoln Journal Star reported Thursday.
The report said OTS is adding 50K square feet of space to the facility where the business unit produces rocket motor cases, missile launch tubes and other components for aerospace and defense platforms.
Tim Ek, general manager of General Dynamics’ Lincoln operations, told the publication the project will be the first physical expansion at the site since the early 1980s and the company has started to recruit additional employees to work there.
The company acquired the property in 2002 and projected the number of employees at the plant will increase by 120 this year.
