General Dynamics’ information technology business has transitioned the Defense Health Agency’s enterprise billing platform to the Amazon Web Services GovCloud.
GDIT said Monday it worked with DHA’s Solution Delivery Division to migrate the Armed Forces Billing and Collection Utilization Solution’s FedRAMP Impact Level 4 workload to a cloud environment.
The company previously received a potential five-year, $56M task order under the GSA IT Schedule 70 vehicle to operate ABACUS in the cloud as a managed service platform.
The award also required GDIT to maintain DHA and DoD cybersecurity posture and authority to operate while supporting other financial and regulatory matters.
Dave Levy, vice president of U.S. government at AWS, said the flexibility of the GovCloud region enables systems like ABACUS to help provide health services to warfighters and their families while safeguarding critical information and meeting compliance requirements.
“Our strong relationship with AWS and intimate knowledge of our customer’s needs made this challenge a reality and will usher in a new era of cloud agility for DHA,†noted Kamal Narang, VP and health sector head at GDIT.
The ABACUS effort serves as the first DHA cloud migration to use the Defense Information Systems Agency’s cloud computing architecture.
