The Department of Energy intends to award $100M in grant funds for multiple companies to develop technology prototypes or processes under the second phase of DOE's Small Business Technology Transfer and Small Business Innovation Research initiatives.
SBIR and STTR Phase I recipients are eligible to compete for funding awards ranging between $1M and $1.5M to continue research and development efforts over a two-year period, the department said Wednesday.
“Providing small businesses with greater opportunities to enhance science and technology research and development strengthens the economic security for our entire country," said Energy Secretary Rick Perry.
Phase II grantees have the chance to vie for additional two-year grants worth potentially $1.1M in accordance with the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2019.
