The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Microsystems Technology Office is seeking research proposals for a potential $10M program that aims to develop machine learning tools that can learn from streaming data in real time.
DARPA said Friday in a FedBizOpps notice it partnered with the National Science Foundation to explore approaches for the rapid development of hardware and architectures to address embedded system challenges through the Real Time Machine Learning program.
The NSF-led RTML program will focus on pathfinding research while the DARPA program will center on the infrastructure needed to accelerate the development of AI hardware.
The goal is to explore architectures intended to interpret data, use what it learned to solve unfamiliar problems and
function at a power level that is similar or better than the human intelligence.
NSF and DARPA plan to offer collaboration opportunities to contractors from the two agencies' respective RTML efforts.
Interested parties can submit responses to the presolicitation notice through May 1.
