Ball Aerospace will further evaluate a testbed under the second phase of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency program aimed at building technology platforms for military personnel to gain situational awareness and manage assets in space.

The company said Thursday it will collaborate with independent software developers to conduct three software assessment activities on the Space Evaluation and Analysis Capability platform through mock exercises.

SEAC underwent five evaluations during the first phase of the Hallmark program, which DARPA manages with the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Steve Smith, vice president and general manager of systems engineering solutions at Ball, said the company uses an open architecture approach in efforts to bring commercial tools and methods such as DevOps to Department of Defense programs.

For the second phase of Hallmark, Ball aims to simplify the process of integrating new features into operational systems and introduce new mission systems faster.
