The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded BAE Systems a $3.1M contract to continue developing an autonomous technology designed to help the U.S. military plan air missions.

BAE said Wednesday it will further develop its Distributed, Interactive, Command-and-Control Tool under the third phase of DARPA’s Resilient Synchronized Planning and Assessment for the Contested Environment program.

DIRECT works to alert operators of potential areas of concern as they prepare to execute a mission and automatically adjusts bandwidth when used in areas with limited or unreliable communications.

The RSPACE program centers on the development of software decision aids for military air operators to manage battlespace operations.

BAE collaborates with Uncharted Software on the project and performs work at company facilities in Massachusetts and Virginia.
