BAE Systems is developing an autonomous system designed to disrupt sensors of incoming missiles and transition projectiles away from their targets, C4ISRNET reported Wednesday.

Raven is a sensor suite intended for installation onto a ground platform that uses non-kinetic technology to protect tanks and vehicles from missile attacks.

Ryan Edwards, business development manager for soldier and vehicle electronics at BAE Systems, told C4ISRNET in an interview that Raven’s non-kinetic feature is safer that kinetic systems which may result in collateral damage.

Edwards added the company is also working on a situational awareness platform for potential use in Bradley Fighting Vehicles in an effort to increase the situational awareness function of the ground platform.
