Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services, said the agility and speed that cloud offers when it comes to improving customer experiences is the primary reason why government agencies and enterprises migrate to the cloud, CRN reported Wednesday.

“In the cloud, you can provision thousands of servers within minutes, and then we have 165 services that you can put together and use in whatever combination so want,” Jassy said at CERAWeek 2019.

“You get from an idea to implementation in several orders of magnitude faster.”

He cited the leadership and cultural challenges organizations face when moving operations to the cloud, the importance of training in cloud migration and the company’s focus on cloud security.

“In the cloud, you can make a single API call and know where every single one of those servers are, who’s checked them out and what access control they have, and the ability to change it and put more guardrails in place,” Jassy noted.
