Altamira Technologies has selected two winners during a company-wide competition that challenged employee teams to develop technological concepts to help national security customers address mission challenges.
Vampire Bats and Infrared Deep Learning with PI will receive funds as the winning teams of Altamira's second annual Innovation Grand Challenge, the company said Thursday.
The first team conceptualized an imagery analysis approach that uses machine learning to correct low-quality images and present them as though they were taken in standard lighting settings.
The second group plans to create a data recognition platform that uses lightweight infrared technology to collect and track information in real time.
“For the second year, Altamira innovators brought ideas with tremendous market potential to our annual Innovation Challenge,†said Rod Fontecilla, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Altamira.
The competition also included natural language processing, software engineering, cybersecurity, risk management and meteorological prediction projects.
