Saab has selected Triumph Group to supply gearbox and hydraulic systems for integration into a pilot training aircraft Boeing will build for the U.S. Air Force.
Berwyn, Pa.-based Trimuph said Thursday it will design, build and provide aftermarket support for the T-X trainer's airframe mounted accessory drives and hydraulic machines.
The Air Force awarded Boeing a potential $9.2B contract in September to manufacture up to 475 T-X jets and 120 ground-based training platforms. Saab serves as the Chicago-based aerospace contractor's partner in the program and is responsible for the development of aft fuselage and associated subsystems.
Triumph’s geared solutions business will provide the AMADs and its actuation and control subsidiary will supply subcomponents for the hydraulic equipment.
Dan Crowley, president and CEO of Triumph Group, said the company has a separate contract with Boeing covering aircraft wing and vertical and horizontal tail components.
