Techstars and Starburst have launched a new accelerator program that seeks to help startups developing space-based technologies and other related platforms.

Matt Kozlov, former head of the Cedars Sinai Accelerator, will serve as managing director of the Los Angeles-based Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator program, Techstars said Tuesday.

“We are bringing together vital industry leaders, both public and private, who will help entrepreneurs navigate the industry and provide unprecedented commercial support and mentorship,” Kozlov said.

“We will help founders achieve two years of commercial traction in three months,” he added.

Van Espahbodi, Starburst co-founder and managing director, will serve as adviser to Kozlov and the newly created accelerator program.

The accelerator’s sponsors include Lockheed Martin, Science Applications International Corp., Maxar Technologies, Israel Aerospace Industries, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the U.S. Air Force backed by The Aerospace Corp.

Starburst and Techstars have started accepting applications for the program, which will commence in July and focus on new business models.
