Senseonics Holdings and service-disabled veteran-owned small business Geo-Med have teamed up to provide over 9M veterans and U.S. government employees access to an implantable device built to monitor glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Senseonics said Thursday its Eversense continuous glucose monitoring system uses a fluorescence-based sensor, a mobile application and a smart transmitter for data communication.

“We are pleased to partner with Geo-Med in providing veterans with diabetes access to the latest CGM technology available," said Tim Goodnow, president and CEO of Senseonics.

The Eversense CGM system works by sending vibratory alerts to patients on high and low glucose levels through a sensor inserted in the wearer's upper arm.
