Scott Soenen, Matt Wood, Dan Brophy Take VP Roles at Capella Space - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Capella Space has appointed three new vice presidents to lead the company’s product engineering, go-to-market and business strategy and U.S. government services.

Scott Soenen, a 15-year veteran in geospatial intelligence, joined the aerospace company as VP of product engineering, Capella said Thursday.

He joined Capella from Planet Labs, where he led the development of tools for geospatial data processing.

Matt Wood, a two-decade geospatial industry veteran, will serve as VP of go-to-market and business strategy at Capella.

He previously helped promote satellite imagery services at DigitalGlobe, Google and Ursa Space Systems.

Dan Brophy, a 30-year aeronautics and astronautics veteran, will assume the role of VP of U.S. government services.

Brophy previously worked at Orbital ATK, which now runs as Northrop Grumman's innovation systems business, and held leadership roles at Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and Ball Aerospace & Technologies.

Payam Banazadeh, CEO and founder of Capella Space, said the three new executives have the experience and expertise to help the company expand its satellite constellation and promote its SAR products and services to government and commercial markets.

Capella Space plans to launch its next commercial imaging satellite Sequoia in mid-2019 and deploy by 2022 a constellation of 36 satellites designed for continuous global monitoring.
