Report: Navy to Test EW Swarm Drones - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The U.S. Navy is working with Northrop Grumman and VX Aerospace to test the use of swarm tactics with electronic warfare drones by fall 2019, C4ISRnet reported Wednesday. The service branch intends to employ small drones to expand the coverage of searches for enemy signal emissions as part of a project dubbed Remedy.

VX Aerospace has developed a small unmanned aircraft system designed to fit in munition canisters that would launch from larger aircraft.

The small UAS units would carry EW payloads and transmit gathered inteligence to manned aircraft via an integrated datalink.

The low-profile drones would also feature jamming and cyberattack functions for use against tracked radars and targeted command networks.
