The U.S. Navy has tested the ballistic missile defense of a new anti-air radar with the support of Kratos Defense and Security Solutions.
The AN/SPY-6(V)1 air and missile defense radar detected and tracked a ballistic target during the Vigilant Nemesis test on Jan. 31, the company said Tuesday.
The flight test concluded a series of ballistic missile defense trials for the radar that is designed for use with the Flight III ships within the Arleigh Burke class of destroyers.
Kratos contributed mission planning, software development, payload assembly, target preparation and launch activities associated with the test.
Raytheon, the radar's developer, leads AN/SPY-6(V)1's test efforts.
