Idemia has helped the Alabama Department of Revenue update a mobile application built to help the state’s residents protect their identities and avoid income tax fraud.

The Idemia eID app will allow users to verify the legitimacy of tax refund applications or decline fraudulent transactions and is available for download on Android and iOS devices, the company said Thursday.

Users can upload their photos and submit copies of their driver’s licenses or state IDs through the app to file tax refund requests. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will authenticate the information and notify users if their requests have been accepted or declined.

ADOR implemented the app last year as part of identity protection and tax refund theft prevention efforts.
