TYSONS CORNER, VA, February 28, 2019 — IBM (NYSE: IBM) has named retired U.S. Navy officer Michelle Howard, who commanded Allied Joint Force Command Naples and U.S. Naval Forces in Europe and Africa before she left military service, as a member of the company’s board of directors, GovCon Wire reported Wednesday.
The company said Tuesday its board elected Howard, the first woman to become a four-star admiral and the first African-American woman to command a Navy ship, to join as a director effective March 1.
