Todd Gustafson, president of HP’s federal business, has said local and state chief information officers should continue to adopt cloud and “as-a-Service†models to increase efficiency and cut costs of their information technology modernization efforts.
He wrote in an opinion piece published Wednesday on Government Technology that there has been “a clear and dramatic shift†across government agencies to embrace as-a-Service models for devices.
Gustafson said Device-as-a-Service could provide agencies ways to limit costs and help them get regular access to the latest technology and maintain the talent to manage endpoint devices.
“With DaaS, agencies also have constant access to a broad selection of best-in-class, multi-operating system devices and accessories so they can shorten refresh cycles and keep users happy,” he wrote.
“DaaS also enables state and local organizations to tailor the mix of devices and accessories they receive to meet the needs of individual agencies.”
Gustafson also noted adopting DaaS also requires recognition by government leaders to replace older management and procurement models.
