Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Greg Wenzel, an executive vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, as the newest inductee into Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena — for his efforts creating new solutions in IT systems and other emerging technologies.

This marks Wenzel’s first Wash100 award.

Wenzel oversees the defense contractor’s Army business, focused on helping the service modernize through the delivery of cyber, analytics, engineering and digital platforms and services to warfighters. Wenzel has extensive experience supporting government and defense clients in enterprise integration and command, computing, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission areas.

In June, Wenzel said Booz Allen leverages open architecture to provide clients the vendors and technologies that align with their mission requirements. He believes the U.S. Army must push for integration at the onset of its IT modernization activities.

Wenzel cited the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the analysis process and how the company leverages open architecture to help military clients address challenges through integrated platforms.

“Being platform agnostic means our clients can get the best solution from every provider, which only benefits the warfighter,” he said.

“I’ve found that federal clients often have similar challenges, and when we break down silos, we’re able to solve problems together,” Wenzel told ExecutiveBiz during an Executive Spotlight. Previously, he led the digital solutions initiative of Booz Allen’s strategic innovation group. As the head of digital services business, the McLean, Va.-based technology services contractor acquired cloud computing and digital services contractor Aquilent in a huge push to grow its citizen-focused services and talent pipeline.

“We’ve been coupling the understanding of our clients’ missions and augmenting our engineering and digital technology professionals over the last couple of years. We found Aquilent’s design of their company as similar to our digital solutions team, ” Wenzel added. “You don’t hear about us doing a lot of acquisitions as the main thing here is to be selective in what we’re going after. It’s about where we can get those individuals that match with our ‘Vision 2020’ initiative in areas where we need the talent base.”

Wenzel spent eight years in the Army National Guard/Reserves, where he served as combat engineer, and worked at Aestix as chief architect for business-to-business exchanges. Executive Mosaic congratulates Greg Wenzel and the Booz Allen team for their selection to receive this award.
