Forcepoint’s Sean Berg: TSA Airport Screening Tech Can Help Feds Boost Cybersecurity - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Transportation Security Agency's TSA PreCheck screening technology offers the federal government new ways to address growing cyber threats, Sean Berg, senior vice president and general manager at Forcepoint, said in an opinion piece GCN published Thursday.

He suggested that other agencies apply the same processes that TSA PreCheck uses to monitor user behavior for risk-adaptive security.

Berg said that such processes provide more targeted and efficient security screening at airports across the U.S. since the program’s launch in 2011.

Risk-adaptive security could help federal agencies deter threats in the cyberspace through screening processes that are tailored to individual profiles, the Forcepoint official said.

“Analyzing digital identities' daily patterns can help agencies develop a baseline of ‘normal’ user behavior,” Berg said. “When behavior deviates from the norm… agency security personnel can look into that abnormal pattern and address to the problem as appropriate, perhaps by blocking that person's access to specific directories or services.”

He also suggested the application of automation to monitor potential cyberthreats in order for agencies to obtain real-time observations.
