EverWatch CEO John Hillen on Market Opportunity Facing Midsize GovCon Firms - top government contractors - best government contracting event

EverWatch CEO John Hillen told the Washington Business Journal in an interview published Tuesday about the capability of midsize GovCon companies to meet the requirements of national security clients and the opportunity the current competitive landscape offers to such firms amid a wave of mergers and acquisitions in the past year.

“There’s a great opportunity here to build what the government customer has always highly, highly desired. Which is a range of suppliers, a range of partners, of all different sizes and capabilities,” he told WBJ’s Robert Terry.

Hillen talked about the needs of government customers and the potential role of mid-market companies to satisfy those needs.

“I know from having been the customer that having a mid-size, mission-capable contractor that’s capable of priming key contracts and certain mission spaces and bringing a range of solutions to the customer is something they always want,” he noted.

“They’d love to have the option of something in between.”

He also shared insights on mid-size firms engaging in full-and-open competition.

“I think for the mid-size companies that are emerging from 8a or small business status and are now competing on full and open, that’s the big next plateau to get up to,” said Hillen.

“The nice thing is every great company in this space was built exactly by crossing that plateau.”
