DoD Seeks R&D Proposals for Space-Based Time-Sensitive Targeting Payload - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Department of Defense has asked industry to submit white papers for the research and development of a payload technology designed to engage time-sensitive targets.

Interested parties must have the capability to provide analysis, demonstration and experimentation support to help DoD develop a space-based asset that would collect real-time target information “under all feasible natural or hostile conditions," the Washington Headquarters Services said said Friday in a FedBizOpps notice.

DoD wants payloads that utilize emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation to eliminate the need for human operations, lower the chance of errors and increase resiliency to adversarial threats.

The solicitation is part of the department’s efforts to identify platforms that can support deterrence against missiles and other weapons of mass destruction.

The Director of Defense for Research and Engineering for Advanced Capabilities will host an industry day on March 1 in McLean, Va., to further discuss the project.

DoD will accept proposals through March 15. The department plans to invite potential contractors for the program's concept design study and demonstration phases.
