CompTIA collaborates with Texas-based public and private sector organizations to help transitioning service members and adult career changers obtain certifications needed to land technology-related jobs.
The information technology association said Thursday it it has certified 324 state residents through the group's cybersecurity training pathway since 2017 and plans to introduce similar programs this year.
"Short-term training opportunities in occupations with high demand, such as CompTIA's cybersecurity training, allows for more individuals in our growing workforce to obtain important skills from which they can build a career," said Julian Alvarez, workforce commissioner representing labor in Texas.
The trade organization partnered with Workforce Solutions Borderplex to prepare military veterans and their spouses for five technology certifications intended to help them secure cybersecurity positions.
The group also teamed up with Mission Economic Development Corp. to facilitate recruitment, training and placement of unemployed and under-employed people into higher-paying roles in the technology industry.
