Centene, managed care services provider to government and private health programs, has received a 2019 Health Equity Award from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for helping people with disabilities receive medical services.
The company said Friday it offers PWD members and their companions access to health care through the Provider Accessibility Initiative.
PAI, a collaboration between Centene and the National Council on Independent Living, includes a "Barrier Removal Fund" the partnership launched in Illinois, Texas and Ohio last year.
The fund has awarded grants to 52 providers across the three states to date. The company added it will inroduce BRF in Florida, Kansas and New Mexico this year, as well as continue its efforts to determine methods to collect disability-related data.
