Booz Allen Report Assesses Cyber Threat Trends in 2019 - top government contractors - best government contracting event

A new Booz Allen Hamilton report that takes a look at cyber threat trends in 2019 says states may employ capabilities related to information warfare to compromise companies and consumers.

Booz Allen said in the report that state-linked organizations could identify new applications for internet-of-things botnets and that threat actors might come up with new attack vectors to take advantage of non-WiFi wireless protocols.

Adversaries could leverage adware networks to perform targeted cyber attacks and government-supported groups may exploit water utilities’ industrial control systems to cause uncertainty and perform reconnaissance.

The 2019 Cyber Threat Outlook noted that threat actors seeking to weaponize data might use artificial intelligence-generated video or “deepfakes” in creating forgeries.

The company has called on organizations to establish a culture of security to address emerging cyber threats.

“This culture should permeate not only the different security elements that make up the broader security enterprise but also the interrelated business operations and risk management teams,” according to the report.
