A BAE Systems business unit has secured a potential $55.4 contract to accomplish post-shakedown availability for the U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class USS Thomas Hudner destroyer.
The company’s ship repair business in Florida will help the military service address government responsible trial card deficiencies, incorporate engineering changes that were not implemented during the construction phase and support new activity identified between the custody transfer and PSA efforts, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The cost-plus-award-fee contract has a $23.2 initial value and includes an option for post-delivery work on the future USS Paul Ignatius ship.
Performance of work will continue through May 2020 if the Navy exercises all options.
