Apple has unveiled a new iPhone app designed to provide U.S. veterans with access to medical information from the Department of Veterans Affairs and multiple healthcare providers.

The company announced Monday the launch of the Health Records on iPhone scheduled this summer, which provides data on a single, integrated snapshot of patient profile.

The new feature shares information on allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals.

Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of technology, said the app will enable users to view their medical information from multiple providers “in one place easily and securely” to better understand their health.

“When patients have better access to their health information, they have more productive conversations with their physicians,” added Jeff Williams, chief operating officer of Apple.

VA currently provides services to more than nine million veterans across 1.2K facilities in the U.S.

Hospitals and clinics outside VA can also access and add information to the Health Records app through the existing Apple Health app.
