The ongoing partial shutdown of federal government organizations could threaten $245M in daily revenue for contracting firms, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.
Bloomberg analyzed federal database reports and found that the 13 federal departments and agencies that halted operations due to a lack of appropriations obligated a total of $89.3B to companies by the end of fiscal 2018.
More than 50 percent of the obligated funds came from NASA and the departments of Homeland Security and State, the report noted.
The publication determined Boeing, General Dynamics and Leidos were among the companies that received a significant amount of contract funds during the past fiscal year.
Erin Tindell, a Leidos spokeswoman, told Bloomberg in an email the company is “actively monitoring the situation and await direction from our government customers.”
Beci Brenton, a spokeswoman for Huntington Ingalls Industries, said the shutdown has not affected the shipbuilder’s cash flow. The Newport News, Va.-based company secured $930M in contract funds to construct two national security cutters for the U.S. Coast Guard before the shutdown went into effect Dec. 21.
