Northrop Grumman showcased how vehicle active protection system technologies could defeat anti-tank guided munitions during a month-long demonstration event hosted by the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Research Development Engineering Center.
The company said Tuesday it used a Passive Infrared Cueing Sensor to transmit an inbound ATGM warning to the Multifunction Electro-Optical System and counter the incoming threat.
Mike Meaney, vice president of advanced missions at Northrop, said the company aims to help the Army to deploy a vehicle APS system and the platform is an example of leveraging investment in aircraft protection to apply similar technology to ground vehicles
The exercise marked the fourth consecutive time MEOS has worked to defeat threats in field tests.
