Epner Technology has received National Institute of Standards and Technology's gold standard recognition for the firm's infrared reflectivity technology.

nn

Laser Gold, the firm's electroplating process, is designed to produce gold coating that is pure (0.9999), three times harder than standard 24 karat equivalents and reflective to infrared, Epner said Monday.

nn

NIST measured Laser Gold's infrared reflectivity via the Infrared Reference Integrating Sphere device at the Gaithersburg, Md., laboratory.

nn

The test showed a 99 percent rate across a range covering two to 14 microns.

nn

NASA uses Laser Gold to meet thermal control requirements of spacecraft instruments such as those used in satellites and space telescopes.
