The U.S. Navy has issued a request for information on industry’s ability to develop a technology platform for the Department of Defense’s satellite communications system controllers and users to transmit and secure messages in real time.
A FedBizOpps notice posted Thursday states the current terrestrial critical control circuit that supports transmission of DoD’s critical satcom data employs outdated hardware and software.
The Navy said its Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center is seeking a messaging technology that can route and record text messages up to the secret classification level and facilitate exchange of information between special satcom users such as U.S. coalition and international partners.
The platform should also integrate with user terminals and cellphones, support in-band satcom connectivity and deliver messages that contain at least 1K characters within 30 seconds, the military service added.
Interested parties can submit input through Jan. 25.
