The U.S. Navy has issued a request for information on potential vendors that could develop, integrate, produce navigation subsystems for the Trident II D5 submarine-launched ballistic missile system.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Thursday stated the military service looks to establish a follow-on contract for the development, technical engineering, fleet support, material procurement and production of the missile's navigation suite in support of U.S. and U.K. navies.

Scope of work will include the inertial navigation modification and repair services, Linked Autonomous Program Navigation Operational Trainer updates and software modernization.

The current draft for the proposed contract has a base performance period of 12 months and two option years.

Interested vendors can submit their capability packages to the Navy through Feb. 8.
